Enrollment Process
How to enroll your child in Sudbury Extended Day programs
SED opens community enrollment each spring. Due to high demand, registration does not guarantee a spot in the program. Here's everything you need to know about enrolling your child.
Important Dates
Mark your calendar for these key enrollment periods
Returning Family Re-Enrollment
February
Currently enrolled families are guaranteed their schedule for as long as they need care. Families will be contacted to confirm registration for the next school year.
Waitlisted Family Enrollment
March - Early April
Once returning families have confirmed their schedules, available spots are offered to current waitlisted families in the order they appear on the waitlist.
April
Community Lottery Registration
After reaching out to enrolled and waitlisted families, SED opens a community-wide enrollment period lasting approximately 3 weeks. Registration submissions are not time-stamped—all forms submitted by the deadline are considered equally.
Lottery & Placement Notification
Before End of School Year
Once the registration window closes, all registrations are separated by location and entered into a lottery to determine placement order. Families are notified before the end of the school year if they have secured a spot or been placed on a waitlist.
September Tuition Deposits Due
No Later Than: May 1st
September tuition deposits must be received by May 1st. Contracts and payments not received by this date will result in contract and enrollment forfeiture. September tuition deposits are non-refundable.
How to Enroll
-
Sign up for our email newsletters to ensure you receive important information about our registration process, which is sent in late winter/early spring.
Important: Set your spam filter to allow our messages to be delivered and read them carefully so you don't miss important information.
-
During the open enrollment window (April), complete the registration form with your family information and your requested days for childcare. Submit your form by the registration deadline.
Note: Registration submissions are not time-stamped. As long as you submit your form by the deadline, you will be considered for enrollment.
-
After the registration window closes, all registrations are separated by location and entered into a lottery. This lottery determines:
The order in which placement offers are made (if space is available)
Placement on the waitlist (if the requested program is full)
-
Families are notified before the end of the school year if they have:
Secured a spot in SED, or
Been placed on a waitlist
We recommend: Because we often have waitlists each year, register for SED but also explore alternative care arrangements in case you are placed on a waitlist.
